Moniques
Gramby's script
SBF: SINGLE BLACK FEMALE was a semi-finalist in The
Writers on the Storm 2007 Scriptwriting Contest .
Recently,
Kevin optioned SWEET LEAF, based on his experiences
as a non-pothead working at the pro-marijuana magazine HIGH
TIMES, to independent director Ben Pitts. It
is currently in preproduction in New York City.
FEBRUARY
& MARCH 2007
Kevin
Caruso’s screenplay, THE
RUT, won the 2007
Cinestory Screenwriting Competition.
His other script, RUNNING, was not far behind,
marking the first time two scripts from the same writer advanced
to Cinestory’s
finals. An interview with Kevin here.
Kevin
Caruso was recently named the 2007
NJ Council of the Arts Fellow for
his screenplay, EXPOSURES OF WAR. It received
the rare, yet perfect score from the judges and was awarded the
highest honor and prize among all the arts submitted.
Joseph
Calabrese's, THE EYES OF MARA, made Quarter Finals (top 10%
out of 2500 submissions) in American
Zoetrope's Screenplay Competition.
Marla
Cukor's horror spec, THANKSGIVING
DAY,
was optioned by producer Jeff C. Foy, of 20th Century Foy. The
film is currently in pre-production

For his screenplay,
RENDERED, Chandus Jackson was named one of four Disney
Fellows for Screenwriting and will be working at the Disney Studios
for one year, starting in February 2007. Everyone here at NJSWN
wishes Chandus the best of luck and ou deepest congratulations.
Chandus will remain as an Advisory Board Member for the NJSWN.
